The Bonnie Palm series I painted during our first Melrose Paint Out. I was unable to paint during the official week and was scheduled to work in the gallery on the final Saturday afternoon, but I was determined to squeeze a couple of hours in the field. While sitting behind the counter I prepared by sketching a generic palm on mat board and I cut a stencil. Once in front of an actual tree, I used spray enamel with both the negative as well as the positive stencils and then in a bit of frenzy tweaked the five resulting panels with whatever I had on hand. I sold several sold within an hour.
