Jeff Knee, like some artists, practices in two separate media and always has since art college in Savannah, where he earned two BFAs (in Painting and Photography, with art history) in 1985 from The Savannah College of Art and Design. Jeff is always experimenting in his art with child-like wonder and lack of a "formula." This holds true for both media. Only rarely does he combine both in mixed media photo/paintings; he prefers keeping them separate.
Jeff has won awards and been in juried shows for over twenty years. Jurors include an associate curator of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (for The Second Regional Juried Exhibit, Spartanburg, SC, 1985) and Peter MacGill of Pace-MacGill Gallery, New York (for Toledo Friends of Photography show, Ohio, 1992). His entry for the United States National Fine Art Competition and International Exhibition, 1984, won 3rd Place and showed in Tallahassee's State Capitol building, as well as a traveling show in Paris, Munich, and Rome.
